Supermarket Sensory Boxes

Morrisons and Tesco have introduced sensory boxes in stores to support neurodivergent customers with a more positive shopping experience.

The boxes typically contain a sunflower lanyard, ear defenders. fidget toys, dark glasses and communication cards to help maintain calm in this often busy, noisy and overwhelming environment.

To borrow a box (which must be returned at the end of your shop) you will need to go to the Customer Services Counter.

Further, more detailed information for each Supermarket, including the specific stores that are operating the scheme can be found by selecting the pictures below:

Some supermarkets and other shops also operate a 'Quieter Hour' to reduce sensory experiences in store where lights are dimmed and checkout beeps silenced.

  • Tesco = 9-10am every Wednesday and Saturday
  • Morrisons = 2pm - 3pm Monday to Thursday
  • Lidl = 6pm - 8pm every Tuesday
  • Asda = 2pm - 3pm Monday to Thursday
