Sun Cream in School
Following a number of queries from parents today regarding the application of sun cream, we have contacted the school nursing team, who have advised the following:
- As sun cream is not a prescribed medicine it should not be held in school.
- Parents should ensure that a liberal application of sun cream is applied to their child before they come to school.
- As long as contact with water is avoided sun cream should hold its protection throughout the school day.
- However, should your child have very fair skin that is prone to burning, parents/carers are more than welcome to come to school to apply a second coating at any time.
Please be advised that on extremely hot and sunny days the children will not be exposed to the sun for a sustained period of time.
Can we please ask that you ensure that your child has a water bottle and sun hat in school for the remainder of the term.
